"The Soft Side of Motion Control"
New and improved software-based motion control systems reduce
cost and increase flexibility for OEMs.

"There are so many benefits [of soft motion] from the flexibility to the connectivity to the reduced costs that it's difficult to count" says [Joe] Zhou, [Vice President of Engineering with Soft Servo Systems]. "First, the connectivity of the PC is a plus. With PCs you can have either wired or wireless Ethernet connections that permit sharing, which is not possible with dedicated hardware systems. If you have a PC-based soft motion system, it's very easy to make information sharing flexible, easy, and cost effective, meaning someone from a remote location can access it."

flexibility and cost-effectiveness than their hard-wired
counterparts. To demonstrate the flexibility of newer
systems, Alex Sierra, Operations Manager at Soft Servo
Systems, discusses an example of an OEM application
that his company performed for Bridgeport by Hardinge,
a large machine manufacturer.......
