Demo Video of a Shaft Motor Stage with EtherCAT Controller
This video shows a shaft motor stage system, consisting of shaft motors from
GMC Hillston Co., Ltd. (Japan) and Xenus Plus servo drives for EtherCAT from
Copley Controls. The stage is controlled by S-100M, an innovative
software-only CNC product from Soft Servo Systems, running on an industrial
panel PC (ATOM CPU).
Video of a Robot Hand Control System Using EtherCAT
Harmonic Drive Systems has developed an EtherCAT-based robot hand
system using the SMP850 8-axis motion control system from Soft Servo
Systems, paired with superprecision and micro actuators from Harmonic
Drive Systems, and EtherCAT-based servo drives from Harmonic Drive
Systems. (See video below.)
The SMP850 is a general-purpose motion controller, running on a
general notebook PC in this case, that achieved the smooth movement
of the fingers of this 8-axis robot hand system. It demonstrates
the main feature of EtherCAT: that even with high-speed communication,
no master side special hardware is required.
Soft Servo Systems, Inc. Adapts
EtherCAT as a Motion Control and CNC Platform

Soft Servo Systems now offers its general motion control and CNC
products with the popular and proven EtherCAT
interface system: a fast, vendor-independent, Ethernet-based
realtime network for servo and I/O communications that works with
CANopen over EtherCAT (CoE) servo drives and I/O devices.

With this system, RJ45 Ethernet cables are plugged
directly into the Ethernet port on the PC, and servo
drives are connected in a simple, single-line daisy-chain
no hardware is required, not even a terminator.
Up to 32 servo drives (plus additional I/O stations)
can be integrated in one network.
The
EtherCAT interface system is fast, with an interpolation
rate of 0.5 ms. There are no delays in gateways, and
there are no underlying sub-systems. Its simplified
configuration and standard cabling, as well as the elimination
of adapter cards, switches and hubs, make this a very
economical system, both in terms of initial cost and
in terms of maintenance.

Soft Servo Systems, Inc. Adapts
the CANopen Network as Their Newest Servo Platform
Soft Servo Systems now offers the CANopen
interface system, an innovative servo system based on CANopen
digital servo communications technology that works with Copley Control's
Accelus and Accelnet digital servo amplifiers (and third-party
servo motors).

CANopen is an economically efficient fieldbus
network for industrial control, based upon CAN (Controller Area
Network), with a 1 Mbit/sec bit rate and a 1 µs timestamp
resolution. This high-speed, real-time network provides simple,
fast network control. Up to 16 stations can be integrated in one
network, using an RJ45 Ethernet interface cable and a CAN PC card,
with no hardware interface modules necessary. In the CANopen platform,
users connect exactly the number of servo drives they need.
Each Copley Accelus amplifier offers
6 digital inputs and 2 digital outputs; each Copley Accelnet
amplifier offers 12 digital inputs and 3 digital outputs.

Soft Servo Systems, Inc. Announces VersioBus II
Soft Servo Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce the immediate availability
of VersioBus II, the next generation of the VersioBus fiber-optic
communication protocol originally developed by Soft Servo Systems.
The new VersioBus II protocol is a proprietary high-speed real-time
fiber-optic digital servo and I/O communication protocol that provides
enhanced reliability and security, and supports a 1 ms multi-axis
(up to 16 axes) interpolation cycle.
Soft Servo Systems Offers MECHATROLINK
III with Sigma V Drives: Ethernet-Based Servo Interface from YASKAWA
Soft
Servo Systems now offers an interface system for its PC-based CNC
and general motion control (GMC) products that integrates MECHATROLINK
III servo communications with YASKAWA's family of Sigma V servos.
MECHATROLINK III is a new 100 Mbps Ethernet-based
digital servo communications technology from YASKAWA
Electric Corporation that integrates up to 62 stations
in one network, using a single Ethernet interface cable
and a MECHATROLINK III PC card.

The new Sigma V servo motors and amplifiers from YASKAWA
represent a massive leap forward in technology from
their predecessors, and have many impressive features,
such as performance, speed, accuracy, vibrationless
motion, user-friendliness and fast setup times.
As one of the first third-party motion control providers of a system
combining MECHATROLINK III and Sigma V technologies, Soft Servo
Systems offers YASKAWA Sigma V servo drives and motors bundled with
our ServoWorks CNC and SMP general motion control products.
An optional and affordable fiber-optic VersioBus I/O
network is available to meet I/O needs.
